Christmas Re-cap

Monday, December 30, 2013

Did December seem like it flew by or what?! We had a great Christmas, but I have to say it went by way to fast, but then again it always does. We spent Christmas Eve starting and making new traditions this year. We decided that every year we will have a go to dinner we make as a family (this year it was just Wes and me for obvious reasons), but hopefully as the years go by our kids will help us make it. I love the idea of coming together to make something and then sitting down as a family enjoying it. I think it's great time when you can sit down and really celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. After we  prepped our dinner we attended our Church's candle light service we went to a white elephant and then back home to put Scarlett down and to start working on cinnamon rolls. I have been dying to make Pioneer Woman's famous rolls for the longest time now, so I thought Christmas Eve was a better night then any and that way we could take to all of our family the next day. I asked (begged) my husband to help me and we got to work. They turned out just as good as everyone raves. Here are some pics of our Holiday. All iPhone pics...boo...I was really bad about using my camera this year.

Meeting Santa

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

Well Scarlett met Santa...we for sure thought she would cry. But leave it to her to prove us wrong. She not only didn't cry, she wanted to stay and look at him. She was very interested in all the kids going up to him and I'm sure his beard and big red outfit also had something to do with it. I hurried up and snapped some pictures and crossed this Holiday to do off our list.

Scarlett's 1st Birthday

Thursday, December 12, 2013

We had such a fun time celebrating Scarlett's first birthday! We had about 25-30 people at our house and went pretty low key on all the birthday decor. I truly can say this day a success, I guess pretty much how any 1 year old birthday is. We had lunch, cake, opened presents, and visited with our closest loved ones. Here are some pictures of her day.

Trying to get that dang hand out of her mouth!

Still trying...

Thinking about it....

Uncle Zach putting on the birthday hat and accidentally letting go to soon and it snapped her face. To say she was mad is an understatement.

Playing with new toys.

Thanksgiving 2013

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

The only and best picture I could get that day. haha It captures Scarlett so perfectly...pigtails and all.

We had a great Thanksgiving celebrating at my Dad's house this year. It was pretty neat to experience it with Scarlett here this year, since last year she was refusing to come out. I even got my tree up when we got home that night. I for sure thought Scarlett would tear that bad boy down, but she has surprised me and had little interest into it. I'm sure next year will be a different story!

Baby Loves and Hates

There are some things that warrant a 4 star rating and there are some things that should have never been made! And that high chair is one of them...grrrrrrr..... Don't even get me started on that thing or their customer service which is the most shady thing ever! That's it I will stop their, but for real Do Not Buy that high chair unless you like to pull out each strand of your hair and and hear nails on a chalkboard. If you like that kind of stuff then by all means buy the highchair. The bottle warmer....well done Boon! Well Done!

AWESOME

NOT SO AWESOME

Getting in the Holiday Spirit: Healthy Gift Giving

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

The holidays seem like they are in full swing everywhere I look. Is it just me or does it feel like the holidays are flying by? Every year I feel like I never have enough time to do all the things I would like to do to celebrate. When I start thinking about it, I start to get really anxious about the whole thing. That's why I am making a conscious effort not to stress over the holidays and just enjoy the true meaning behind Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's very easy to get caught up in all the little trivial things.

Speaking of those little trivial things gift giving is one thing I will do. I love selecting and finding the most perfect gift for someone. I compiled a few things that I will be giving this year. I titled it healthy gift giving, because all of these things in some form or another are good for the earth and you. Plus, I have tried or bought everything up there for me or someone and can vouch for the quality of each. I hate just buying junk. I mean I wouldn't buy it for my self, so why would I buy it for anyone else?

Too good not to share...

I have a major sweet tooth! If you would ask my husband he would say that was a huge understatement. I kid you not when I was pregnant with Scarlett I had something sweet (cookie, brownies, ice-cream...you name it) for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And yes I gained way to much weight, but I was sooo one of those people that was like hey I'm pregnant I can eat whatever I want. With the next baby I plan to be a bit more healthy...hopefully, but when cravings call you have to answer to them! Duh! That leads me to my latest and greatest discovery. Goodbody Baked goods! Holy moly these things are sooooo goood! I was at the grocery store picking up my typical Hail Merry indulgences when I spotted these things. With only a few ingredients and that include almond and coconut flours and no gluten, dairy, or grains! Yippee! I thought for sure when I got home they would be icky and I would have gotten the stink eye from my husband that I bought these. I was so pleasantly surprised, not only were they better then a cookie they satisfied my sweet tooth with just one piece. Please try these if you are suffering from the same sweet tooth disease I am. Your taste buds will surely thank you!

The Beauty Files: A face mask

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

I thought I would share one of my favorite face masks that I use weekly! I'm not sure where I got this recipe (I want to say Whole Foods??), but I have been doing it for a couple years now. It always does the trick and is oh so good for your skin.

You will need:

Directions:
Mix 5 or 6 teaspoons depending how dry you are of raw honey with 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar and lemon juice. I mix mine in a ceremic bowl. After all of the above is combined put on your pretty little face for about 10 mins or so. Rinse with cool water and a wash cloth and you are done! Enjoy! Do you have any favorite homemade beauty recipes?
