Christmas Shopping

Land of Nod just gets me... Every time I get their catalog in the mail I let out a little squeal. You see I have a passion for finding quality toys for my kids. I absolutely hate all the plastic ones. They always require batteries and end up breaking way too often. I find that Land of Nod has a great selection for quality toys for the kids, not to mention some of my favorite toy storage ever. Anyway, here's some things that are sitting in my cart right now for the kids.

This map is so awesome because its huge and its felt so you can take all the pieces off and put the cities on the right states!

Trip has a thing for tents so I think he would just love this very own one for his room.

Perfect little doll bed for all of Scarlett's animals.

It's been awhile

I can't believe it's almost December! My favorite time of the year! We have been so busy and I am itching at recording it all so I won't forget anything. So what have we been up to? We celebrated Trip's 1st birthday with a bang. We had a fall themed birthday at our house and invited close friends and family to celebrate with us. We had our first family vacation to some other place then Seaside, but still in Florida. We went to Disney World! And also, Scarlett started her very first day of pre-school the first week of October. So lots of exciting things happening around here! Disney world was so much fun and I have officially started to miss it and already want to plan another trip back! I feel like Scarlett was the perfect age to enjoy the true Magic of Disney. She loved everything from meeting the character to riding on all the rides! Anyway just quick update on our lives. Now we are on to plan Scarlett's 3rd birthday and celebrate the holidays! The best time of year!

Potty Training

Saturday, January 3, 2015

I'm knocking on wood as I type out this post, because I'm pretty sure we have a little girl that is almost fully potty trained! I'm thrilled beyond belief to get rid of diapers. Not to mention it is not cheap getting diapers for 2 children. I think we really lucked out with Scarlett. She showed interest as soon as we introduced the potty and I don't think that's the case with a lot of kids especially boys, so I'm sure it will be the complete opposite when we are ready to potty train Trip. Here's some of my tips and stuff we bought to get the whole process started. By the way I still have the challenge of getting her to go on the big potty, but I'm hoping that will happen soon.

1. I recommend buying both types of pottys ( a stand alone potty and a ring to fit on your toilet)- You never know which one they will be into. Scarlett was really into the BabyBjorn one over the ring.
2. Do not buy a potty with all the bells and whistles: You will hate yourself for doing so, because they suck to clean! This one was so awesome, because you can easily dump it and spray it down.
3. I used the 3 day potty training method: I had watched a youtube video of a mom talking about potty training several months ago and she said she used this and it worked. So, that's what we tried first and guess what it worked. If you want watch the video I watched, you can do it here. Also, this youtube channel is awesome! The moms are so hilarious!
4. I didn't try any of the rewards like candy or stickers: I just didn't think we needed all of that. She was perfectly happy with of cheering for her! So don't think you need to buy all of the books, candy, and sticker charts.
4. Don't stress: There are so many right ways to do this and I think every kid is totally different! So don't let anyone pressure you in potty training your kiddo if you aren't ready to do so yet.

I would love to know how potty training worked for you all!

Holiday Re-cap

Happy New Year! I can't believe it's already 2015. Is it just me or have the holidays seem to just fly by? I'm sure it has something to do with us having a newborn and a toddler. But I tried to savor every moment of the holidays and now I'm so bummed it's over. Here is how we spent the holidays in pictures.

lots of snuggles and kisses with this one

Thanksgiving was spent at my in-laws this year. My mother in law is an amazing cook, I wish we could have Thanksgiving at least once a month.

All and all we had another memorable and blessed Christmas. I have very many hopes and prayers for this New Year. A few of them include, my children's health, me being more present as a wife and mother, and worrying less and praying more. Here's to 2015!
